Duration
30 min
What you'll need
- Printed pack
- Colouring pencils
- Scissors (optional)
What the learner will explore
- Fractions as equal parts of a whole
- Equivalent fractions (1/2 = 2/4 = 4/8)
- Comparing fractions using pictures
How to do it
- 1
Print the pizza pages and talk about sharing one pizza fairly.
- 2
Colour each fraction shown and cut the slices if you'd like something to hold.
- 3
Match slices that cover the same amount — these are equivalent.
- 4
Finish with the mixed challenge page at your own pace.
Make it easier
Stay with halves and quarters and use cut-out slices to overlay and compare.
Make it harder
Add thirds and sixths, then write each family of equivalents as a number sentence.
Try it differently
Make it real — cut a pitta bread or a paper plate at the kitchen table instead.
